Kochi: A major tragedy was averted on Wednesday morning when a Qatar Airways flight bound from Thiruvananthapuram to Doha developed engine snag and was forced to make an emergency landing here.
The pilot of the aircraft with 124 passengers and nine staff on board sensed the danger just after the flight left Thiruvananthapuram airport around 6 am. The left engine was not functioning properly and he immediately messaged the air traffic control at Nedumbassery for a full emergency landing where ambulances, fire protection wing and other security agencies are summoned.
