Regional carrier Air Costa set to take off in July; to connect southern cities

Hyderabad: The Indian aviation market is set to get a fresh player with a new regional carrier, Air Costa, stating on Monday that it is in the process of getting final approvals from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and would launch operations from July.
Promoted by Vijayawada-based construction group LEPL, Air Costa will be focusing on operations in southern India with a fleet of 3 Embraer E-Jets, which are most suitable for the regional short-haul connectivity between tier-II and III cities with the major metros. The carrier plans to operate flights to six destinations in the first phase.
"Air Costa has chosen Embraer E-Jets for their efficiency and reliability. Our plan is to link underserved markets in India with more direct flights," said Captain KN Babu, CEO of the airline.
