Ticket trouble for fun flight

Calcutta: For a view of Calcutta from the sky, you would need to take the trouble of travelling a few taxing miles on land.
The 10-minute ride aboard a 10-seater French Dolphin helicopter can be an experience of a lifetime but booking a ticket for the flight could set anybody back by years — to the pre-online booking era.
A newspaper advertisement announced on Wednesday morning the state tourism department’s sky venture, which took off in the afternoon. It said tickets could be booked online at www.westbengaltourism.gov.in or bought at the Tourism Centre, 3/2 East BBD Bag.
The advertisement also gave basic information like ticket prices (Rs 1,700 per seat) and flight timings (every afternoon except on Monday and Thursday).
Many fliers found to their dismay that the website — slow and heavy as it is — does not have a hyperlink to book tickets for the ride or any information about the service that transport minister Madan Mitra inaugurated on Sunday with a ride from the Royal Calcutta Turf Club.
