New Delhi: Security continues to be a problem, not just at Aerocity, but also at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA). The Perimeter Intrusion Detection System (PIDS) installed in the airport and touted as a sophisticated, one-of-a-kind technology, is stuck in limbo.
IGIA operator Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) maintains that the system has been installed successfully across 24 km of the airport's periphery and, as per the original agreement, handed over Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in July last year. But, CISF, which is responsible for access control at the airport, says even though its staff is handling the system, it has several shortcomings, and the agency has not taken charge "officially".
