Alliance Air to charge for food

New Delhi: Passengers flying Alliance Air, the 100 per cent subsidiary of Air India, will have to pay for meals on board from August 1.
At the moment, Alliance operates a six-times-a-week return service on the Bangalore-Kochi-Agatti (Lakshadweep) route, a three-times-a-week Bangalore-Mangalore return flight and a daily Silchar-Kolkata return flight.
Confirming the development, officials said the airline would, however, continue to offer a bottle of water and peanuts free on board. Alliance follows in the footsteps of many domestic carriers, such as IndiGo, SpiceJet and JetKonnect, which charge for food served during flights.
