New Delhi: India's civil aviation authority, DGCA, recently approved Flight Simulation technique centre pvt ltd.(FSTC) as a Type Rating Training Organization (TRTO) for Airbus 320 and Boeing 737 NG family of airplanes. This is a significant achievement for FSTC, a Joint Venture company with SIM Industries BV, Netherlands, a Lockheed Martin Company. It has the latest Airbus 320 and Boeing 737-800 full flight Level D simulators located at its modern training facility in Gurgaon. Unlike most Simulator training facilities that are owned and run by airlines or aircraft manufacturers, FSTC was promoted and set up as an independent training facility by a team of experienced Airline Pilots.
With commercial aviation poised to grow in double digits in coming times, the availability of a top quality training facility in India is news rejoice for both the Industry as well as aspiring Pilots who can now get type rated in India itself without any hassle of high cost, away from home, language problem and extreme weather conditions . This facility also marks the beginning of foreign airlines looking to India as a viable destination to send their Pilots for training. Pilots who have flown for many years and possess thousands of hours often find that a refresher class can quickly renew rusty skills. On the other hand, a freshly minted pilot who abandons flying for an equal period must conquer significantly greater skill deficit if he or she returns to the cockpit. Skill retention depends on the recency of skill practice, but the depth of skill development is also an important factor. In the Full Flight Simulator, one can create hair-raising scenarios such as in-flight fires, electrical failures, hazardous weather, engine failures or a combination of these. Emergencies can be addressed and managed in a safe environment where the consequence of failure is little more than a bruised ego.
