Dreamliner nightmare: Same oven had got overheated at least twice earlier too

New Delhi:  The American Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is looking at the latest incident of an electric snag causing overheating in Air India's Dreamliner. Airline sources say the oven which got overheated on the Delhi-Kolkata flight operated on Boeing 787 on Wednesday had experienced the same problem twice earlier.
"Our Dreamliners have 13 ovens in all. This particular oven of this aircraft (VT-ANL) had overheating on at least three occasions. We had earlier contacted the oven manufacturer. Now this oven has been removed and the aircraft is in use," said an official.
AI has now contacted Boeing and the official said FAA is looking at this malfunction. "We feel this may not be a generic problem and just an isolated one for this aircraft alone. But we will be able to conclude only after getting a report from Boeing and/or FAA. None of the Dreamliner used for longhaul flights to places like London have had this kind of trouble," said the official.
