Margao: Explaining the NCP's stand on the controversy-ridden Mopa airport, party spokesperson Trajano D'Mello, on Thursday, said the party was for the "evolution of development". He quickly added that this didn't mean NCP was against the Dabolim airport, even as he pointed out that it was under former civil aviation minister, NCP leader Praful Patel, that 500crore was sanctioned for the airport. Addressing reporters in the backdrop of the party's youth membership drive, D'Mello said the NCP "believes Mopa should evolve provided three key conditions are met". One, a parallel runway be set up at Dabolim; two, locals affected by Mopa should be compensated three to four times the value being currently offered.
