Man falls off escalator at airport terminal, lies unattended for 45 mins

Mumbai: A 27-year-old man who fell off an escalator at Mumbai airport's domestic terminal on Monday afternoon lay unconscious for 45 minutes with blood flowing out of his nose and mouth before medical help arrived.
It was another 45 minutes before the airline staff took the injured passenger, identified as Siddhesh Borkar, to a hospital, where treatment did not begin for another five hours.
Eyewitnesses said the airline staff delayed admitting Borkar to a hospital as they were not sure about who will foot his medical bill. Then too, it was the civic-run Cooper Hospital that the Go Air staff took Borkar to despite fellow passengers urging them to rush him to a nearby private hospital. With no ear, nose and throat specialist present at Cooper Hospital, which also did not have any scanning facility, it was five hours before Borkar's treatment finally started.
