Nagpur airport to have performance based navigation system

Nagpur:  In another first for Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) is planning to install performance-based navigation system at the airport. In fact, according to airport director AK Verma, Nagpur will be the first airport to install the system in the entire South Asia Pacific region.
"This system will allow us to offer pilots an easier and faster landing. Using this system, the flights, instead of having to go around the airport once before landing, will be able to directly land, and the radar and controllers will guide the aircraft on approach," said Verma.
This change in the landing procedures, Verma informed was possible due to the upgradations which were brought in because of the automated radar systems and during the preparations of the airport to get an ISO 27000 certificate.
