SpiceJet CEO quits over rift with Kalanithi Maran

New Delhi: Low-cost carrier Spice-Jet's CEO Neil Mills has resigned following reported differences with the airline's promoter, Chennai-based Sun TV chief Kalanithi Maran.
Mills, who still had one-and-a-half years on his contract, was learnt to be unhappy with the slow pace of decisions in India. He had joined the airline in 2010 and was hired from FlyDubai.
"Mills is a serious professional. He wasn't too happy here and resigned some days ago. He is still coming to office regularly, is fully involved in running the airline and will continue to do so till he is relieved," said sources, adding he could join another airline in southeast Asia soon. An airline spokesperson refused to comment on Mill's resignation, saying, "We do not comment on market rumours and speculation."
