Tata, Fernandes, Mittu Chandilya to pay ‘courtesy call’ on Ajit Singh tomorrow

New Delhi: Around five months after AirAsia India got approval from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB), AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes and AirAsia India CEO Mittu Chandilya are accompanying the advisor to airline's board Ratan Tata to meet civil aviation minister Ajit Singh on Tuesday.
"Tony Fernandes is accompanying Ratan Tata on Tuesday to meet civil aviation minister Ajit Singh. Tata has sought for time that has not been fixed yet. AirAsia India CEO Mittu Chandilya is also accompanying them," said a senior civil aviation ministry official. The official added that there is no agenda for the meeting and they are calling it a courtesy call.
"All the issues related to the proposed airline could only be discussed in this courtesy meeting," he further said.
Even as Ratan Tata and Arun Bhatia of Telestra Tradeplace have met Singh earlier, Fernandes and Chandilya will meet the minister for the first time after AirAsia joined hands with the Tata Group and Arun Bhatia of Telestra TradePlace to launch a low-cost airline in a 49:30:21 partnership.
