AAI team in Hazaribag to identify land for runway

Hazaribag: A six-member team of the Airports Authority India (AAI), visited Hazaribag to inspect Nagwan airstrip for construction of runway.
Deputy commissioner Sunil Kumar said the team was impressed with the Nagwan airstrip, situated 6km from Hazaribag along NH-33. About 6,000 square ft is needed to construct the runaway for 55 to 72 aircraft.
However, the DC said AAI was informed about the prevailing resentment among some farmers, who had filed a writ petition in the high court for compensation. But 2,700 sqft was bought in 1944 by the then British government by paying compensation.
The state secretary for the civil aviation said all efforts are being made by the state government to dispose of the pending writ petition in the high court as the state has also moved the court in this regard.
