Asaram in airport row

Telegraph: Air India officials at Bhopal airport prevented rape accused Asaram Bapu from boarding a flight to New Delhi this morning, while Jodhpur police despatched a team to Bhopal to take him into custody for questioning.
The Jodhpur police had on Tuesday summoned the 72-year-old spiritual guru to arrive by Friday midnight for questioning about an alleged sexual assault on a 16-year-old girl at his Jodhpur ashram on August 15. A lookout notice has been issued to all airports to prevent Asaram leaving the country.
At Bhopal’s Raja Bhoj airport, the self-styled godman was denied permission to board Flight AI634 on the ground of “late arrival”, which frayed tempers and led to an assault on journalists by his followers.
Jodhpur deputy commissioner of police Ajaypal Lamba said Asaram had requested 20 days’ extension of the deadline citing a busy schedule but this had been rejected.
Sources in Jodhpur said a three-member police team would reach Bhopal, question Asaram, take him into custody and bring him to Jodhpur for further interrogation.
