Bhubaneswar: A New Delhi-bound plane with 46 people on board was forced to make an emergency landing 40 minutes after it took off from the BijuPatnaik Airport here on Tuesday late night, following a technical snag.
An Air India source said an engine of the aircraft went out of order when the plane was coming to Bhubaneswar from New Delhi earlier in the evening. The plane was to take off from Bhubaneswar at 9 pm, but left the city airport at 11.53 pm as engineers were trying to repair the snag.
"After flying for nearly 40 minutes, it landed back here at 12.32 am and came to the parking bay of the airport at 12.46 am," said an Air India official. He said the plane landed safely and no passenger was hurt.
"The flight came from Delhi and landed here at right time at 8.35 pm. It was to leave for Delhi again after half an hour. But it took two hours for us to repair the damaged engine," said A S Das, the AI official who was on duty at the time of emergency landing.
