Amritsar: Delhi Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has announced to launch a global turban awareness to make people aware about Sikhs, their religious tenets, traditions, culture and most important symbol of faith-dastar (Turban) which is an integral part of Sikhs.
While talking to TOI upon his return from Italy and Dubai on Saturday, DSGMC president Manjit Singh GK said,"With the incident of Rome airport, the exact position at the airports in Italy has come to light and it is clear that Sikhs are harassed at the airports in the name of security checks. We were victorious at the airport and passed the security check without removing turbans, but real victory will be only when all Sikhs would pass through the security at the airports especially in Italy, without being asked to remove turbans for security check,".
GK had lead a delegation to Italy and was stopped at Rome's airport and were asked to remove turbans for security check. The delegates had refused to remove their turbans and missed their flight to Dubai.
