G-auto offloaded from airport

Ahmedabad:  G-Auto called off its 'airport express' service on August 7 allegedly due to constant harassment by the 'rickshaw mafia' operating outside the airport.
G-Auto mentor Nirmal Kumar on Tuesday wrote an email to Ahmedabad police commissioner S K Saikia requesting him to take action against the 'auto mafia' that has been constantly trying to uproot the G-Auto service from the airport.
"The last few days (since the first week of August 2013) have been extremely horrible when G-Auto drivers are not being allowed to park their vehicle at the airport. The place where G-Auto drivers would keep their vehicles has been encroached by the cartel," Kumar says in his letter.
The auto cartel has been harassing G-Auto rickshaw drivers for a long time. Sometimes their autos would be sabotaged or passengers misled into using a local auto for lower fare.
"Yesterday I kept waiting for three hours for a passenger. Local auto drivers present at the airport allowed me to take passengers only when I took the G-Auto board off my vehicle," said Prabhudas, a G-Auto driver.
