Haj operations to start at Mangalore International Airport from September 7

Mangalore: Haj operations from Mangalore International Airport (MIA) at Kenjar near here is scheduled to commence from September 7 and Haj departures go up to September 9. The arrivals will start on October 20 and end on October 24. Each day, 220 passengers are expected to depart/arrive at MIA. Air India is operating A-310 aircraft as it did last year and the old terminal building is being utilised for departure of Haj pilgrims.
J T Radhakrishna, airport director, MIA said a meeting was held at the airport on August 3 in the presence of U T Khader, Minister for Health and Family Welfare and B A Mohiuddin Bava, Mangalore City North MLA to discuss about modalities and arrangements for smooth and organised departure and arrival of pilgrims. Since the arrangements are more or less same as previous year, operations are expected to be smooth, Radhakrishna said.
