Only 10 AAI airports register profit last fiscal: Prabhudas Lilladhar

Kolkata: Among the 125 airports maintained by the Airport Authority of India, only 10 made profits last fiscal. After registering a collective loss of approximately $0.1 billion in FY13, Indian airports are likely to lose money also in FY14, a Prabhudas Lilladhar industry research report said on Friday.
However, the development of regional airports is still on the priority list, which is expected to aid traffic growth, analyst Rupa Shah of Prabhudas Lilladhar, said
Indian airports witnessed passenger traffic fall of 1.9 per cent in FY13, after witnessing a 13.2 per cent growth in FY12. 159 million travellers used the airport facilities.
There was a 200bps Y-o-Y fall in the share of domestic passengers. International passenger traffic growth, however, remained subdued at 5.4 per cent in FY13, compared to 7.6 per cent in FY12.
