AAI transfers retd, dead employees

Chennai: Transfer orders are common but Airports Authority of India (AAI) has done something unusual. The AAI has issued transfer orders to a deceased person and two officers who  retired through VRS recently.
The orders come in the wake of recent civil aviation ministry’s idea to privatise Chennai airport. The move, besides causing heartburn, had also resulted in transfer of around 50 Chennai airport employees who have been spearheading protests against AAI on the interse seniority promotion issue.
International Airports Authority of India Officers’ Association (IAAIOA), which comprises erstwhile International Airports Authority of India (IAAI), has exposed the faux pas by AAI. According to the annual transfer order dated July 25, 2013, A. M. Ezhillarasu, a former assistant general manager in the department of civil engineering, who died last April, has been retained by AAI in the city as he was in the ‘superannuation zone’.
Similarly, M. Lakra, a deputy general manager (electrical engineering), and S. Sen, a senior manager in the same department, who have already left the organisation after opting for voluntary retirement scheme have been given the marching orders to Delhi and Gaya.
