Varanasi: Finally the first batch of Haj pilgrims, who had to postpone their journey on Saturday due to technical snag in the flight of Saudi Airlines, left for Jeddah on Sunday. The second batch of pilgrims also followed them after a few hours.
It is worth to mention here that UP minister of state for PWD had flagged off the buses carrying Haj pilgrims to Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport at Babatpur on Saturday afternoon. As many as 263 pilgrims from Varanasi, Allahabad, Azamgarh, Deoria, Ghazipur, Gorakhpur, Jaunpur, Kaushambi, Mau, Maharjganj, Mirzapur and Bhadohi were in this batch.
But the flight (No SG 4621) of Saudi Airlines developed some damage in its windscreen while landing. The pilots expressed their inability for take off until the damaged windscreen was repaired. Due o which the Purvanchal Haj Seva Samiti office bearers had to ensure night stay of Haj pilgrims in local hotels and they were taken back to the city from the airport.
