Aged and idle, 4 state aeroplanes, a chopper set to go under hammer

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to auction its four aeroplanes and a Chetak helicopter, which are not in use for the past several years.
The state Civil Aviation Department has already short-listed a valuer to assess the value of these aircraft along with their spares and rotables, based on which a reserve price for their auction will be set. The valuation exercise will begin soon after Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's office's approval.
The four aeroplanes set to be auctioned include a Premier-1A, a King Air C-90A, a Super King Air 300 LW and a Beech Bonanza A-36. Sources said that the six-seat Premier-1A is not being used ever since it skidded off the runway at Indira Gandhi International Airport (New Delhi) in September last year.
The King Air C-90A, a five-seat aircraft, has not been in use since 2008 when it failed to take off at Bamrauli airbase in Allahabad.
The nine-seater Super King Air 300 LW is is 18 years old. The aircraft is in flying condition but the government has not used it since October 2011. Sources said that the five-seater Beech Bonanza A-36 is also not in use since September 2011.
