Indore: Air Intelligence Unit, an investigation arm of the Income Tax department started functioning temporarily at Devi Ahilyabai Holker Airport from Monday.
The Unit will stop trafficking of gold and cash at the airport itself. It has been established on the instruction of the Election Commission in view of the forthcoming Assembly election in the state.
Airport director RN Shinde told Free Press that the unit would work together with the CISF inside new terminal building at Security Check Point. Official sources in the Income Tax Department said that two Inspector- level officers of the department’s investigation arm have been deployed there. Stating further, it said that first the CISF will trace illegal trafficking of cash and gold then it will hand over the case to the Air Intelligence Unit.
