Akola: The issue of expansion of Akola airport is hotting up every day. With the Airport Development Authority (ADA) strongly supporting extension of the runway on the east side on technical grounds, the issue has turned into a big controversy.
ADA has made it clear in a meeting held at the district collectorate on Monday that it will stick to the expansion plan on east side as planned. The meeting attended by Fauziya Khan, minister of state for general administration (GAD), and additional chief secretary PS Meena strongly asserted that the state government would not tolerate any efforts to prevent expansion of Akola airport.
Whereas Fauziya Khan said that airport expansion was need of the hour, she added proper decision in this regard will be taken at the proper time by the government.
