Mumbai: The cash strapped national carrier, Air India, has put up four of its apartments at Pedder Road in Mumbai on sale. The flats, which used to house senior Air India officials till recently, will be auctioned by the airline in October and November. Insiders revealed that the airline, which was bailed out by the Centre recently, needs to raise funds and the sale of the apartments is an attempt to do so. The minimum price for each apartment for now has been fixed at Rs 25 crore.
Recently, Air India issued an e-auction notice (a copy is with Mirror) inviting bids for four flats in Sterling Apartments on Pedder road. The flats are in A and B wing of the sought-after housing society. While two flats are on 10th floor, one on 11th floor and fourth flat is on 15th floor. Each flat has a carpet area of 2,160 sq feet.
Air India has appointed DTZ consultants, a renowned real estate consultancy firm, to facilitate the sale of the properties. The auctions for the four flats will be held on different dates in October and November. Along with the four flats, the airline is also selling a 4,520 sq feet plot at Gurgaon. While tentative reserve price for the flats has been worked out, the airline is yet to fix the reserve price for the plot.
