Jet withdraws 3 flights from Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Jet Airways has decided to withdraw all three flights from Bhubaneswar citing heavy losses.
The Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata-bound flights will not be available from October 27, Jet sources said. "We took the decision as there were very few passengers in the past five months. We recorded over 50% vacancy," said an officer of the airlines.
"We have received the withdrawal notice of three flights of Jet Airways from the third week of October. It is the decision of their management," said airport director Sharad Kumar. He said that this might impact the airport's future growth.
Airport sources said there were four daily flights from the city to Mumbai - two of Indigo and one each of Air India and Jet. On the other hand, there were two flights to Bangalore, one each of Jet and Indigo, and three flights to Kolkata, one each of Indigo Jet and Air India.
A Jet source said all the flights were 170 seaters. "Since June, booking has been very low. If all the flights are full, we will have 510 passengers, but on an average we were having 250-300 passengers everyday," he added.
