Mallya for out of court settlement in 2 UBHL cases

Bangalore: Liquor Baron Vijay Mallya is eyeing an out of court settlement in two of the five winding up petitions against his holding company, United Breweries Holdings Limited (UBHL).
Speaking to reporters after the UBHL Annual General Meeting (AGM), Mallya said that they had serious counter claims against three of the winding up petitions filed against them in the Karnataka High Court.
“There are five winding up petitions that are being filed before the company court in Bangalore and out of these five, we have serious counter claims against three of these petitions, which basically leaves two petitioners with whom we are in dialogue for an out of court settlement,” he said.
Unsecured creditors and other unpaid stakeholders have filed petitions against Mallya’s now grounded airline, Kingfisher Airlines (KfA). UBHL is the holding company of KfA and three other listed companies in the group.
