Mumbai airport to get 100 life-saving automated external defibrillators

Mumbai: With a rise in number of medical emergency cases on flights, the Mumbai airport has planned to instal 100 automated external defibrillators (AED) before the year-end. An AED is a portable device that can diagnose a sudden cardiac arrest and aid the patient at the press of a button. "Our AEDs can be used by anyone without formal training. Each AED comes with audio and visual instructionsfor its operation," said a spokesperson of Philips Healthcare, which has been given the contract for providing AEDs.
