Chennai: The airport police have picked up a 73-year-old man from Oman for travelling with a 7.62mm rifle bullet inside his razor box, while he was trying to board a flight after getting treatment at a private hospital in Chennai. His son is working in the police department in Oman, he said.
Police said Al Zaid Ali had come to the airport to board an Air India flight to Muscat and was undergoing security checks when the machine beeped. The personnel checked his baggage and found the bullet. He said he had come to Chennai for medical treatment. He is being questioned by police.
Police said though Ali appears to have no bad intention, authorities are crosschecking with Indian diplomats in Oman whether his claims are genuine and whether his son is in the police force there.
