Dimapur as the only air link for Nagaland and neighbouring Karbi Anglong (Assam) appears to be getting a raw deal from the Airlines, a far cry from the years when there used to be daily flights to Delhi and Kolkota via Guwahati.
After the Jetlite/Jet Airways abandoned its daily flights to Dimapur on June 1, 2013, Nagaland’s only airport is currently being served by Air India which operates six flights a week on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Air India had planned to suspend the Friday flight from August 30 but has extended the period till September 27,2013, according to airlines sources.
