Sophisticated radar facility at Kochi airport

Kochi: The sophisticated radar facility at Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery will be launched on September 14.
The Airports Authority of India in a press release stated that Minister of State for Civil Aviation K C Venugopal will commission the radar system.
Excise Minister K Babu will preside over the function.  Once the radar facility which costs Rs 16 crore begins functioning, it will pave the way for the development of the airport.
The Airports Authority of India said that flights can land and take off safely even in bad weather conditions.
Once the full-fledged operations commence, the aircraft landing and take-off will be totally under the control of the radar controller, thereby minimising the need for any judgment by the pilot during these procedures, even under conditions of very limited visibility.
