Mumbai: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) probing Sunday’s helicopter crash near Murbad, in which five people died, is in the process of decoding the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) and Flight Data Recorder (FDR), which could throw light on the possible cause of the accident.
The CVR, also called the black box, contains conversations the pilots had among themselves and with air traffic controllers during their flight. The FDR can give second-by-second details of technicalities of the flight altitude, engine parameters, fuel level and others.
A special four-member committee of Aircraft Investigation Bureau (AIB) will probe the matter. However, a preliminary enquiry report is expected to be submitted to the DGCA headquarters within a few days, said sources. “The probe is done from all possible angles” said a senior DGCA official.
