New Delhi: Coming down heavily on a taxi union at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, a trial court has said that the union cannot be permitted to monopolize services or harass taxi pliers.
"Defendant No 1 (Delhi Airports Taxi Union) is not a statutory body. It is merely a union of the taxi operators at the airport. The defendants cannot be permitted to monopolize the taxi services at the domestic and international terminals. They have no authorization to harass or impose unreasonable conditions upon taxi pliers," additional district judge Vinod Yadav said.
The court made these observations while dismissing an appeal moved by the union, it's president and secretary challenging a trial court order restraining them from obstructing one Sanjay Bhardwaj from plying his taxi at Terminal-1 of the airport.
