Chennai: A set of false ceiling tiles at the new domestic terminal of Chennai airport almost fell on Wednesday. The tiles on the 6-ft-long section above the Jet Airways check-in counter came loose and hung precariously at 6pm. None was injured.
This the fifth time false ceilings have crashed at the airport terminals in the last few months. Sources said the area was cordoned off and airline staff shifted out before the ceiling tiles were removed for repairs.
A senior Airports Authority of India official said, "The ceiling tiles were removed and engineers started the repair work immediately."
