After the much hullabaloo created by Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh over remarks pertaining to privatisation of India’s only Government owned airline; the debate gaining attention is how sturdy is the idea to privatise Air India that India's Civil Aviation Minister boasts of.
Ajit Singh surprised everyone and later received vehement criticism for remarking on Sunday that Air India will have to be privatised in the future. However, he clarified on Monday that although the privatisation is something that is inevitable, it is not imminent.
Ajit Singh’s Monday statement read, ‘The government of the day will have to look at privatisation and build a political consensus on the issue before taking a position...the issue is not under active consideration at all’.
The leftist parties had already waged their red flag in opposition to the ‘disastrous’ idea of privatisation. Other opposition parties like BJP also played politics well at the gaining momentum against the Congress leader.
