Raipur: An industrialist from Chhattisgarh was detained at the Swami Vivekanand airport here on Wednesday morning after he was found in possession of Rs 10 lakh cash. Vandana Group chairman Subhash Agarwal was on his way to Mumbai when the income tax officials, posted at the airport to check flow of money for the ensuing polls, detected the cash with him.
According to officials, the cash was detected in his handbag during the screening.
Till the filing of this report, investigations were underway to assess the veracity of Agarwal's claims that the money was "clean" and not connected to polls in any manner. Agarwal has claimed that he was carrying the money to Mumbai for some business deal.
