Ranchi: Around 100 passengers, including former chief minister Madhu Koda and wife Geeta, had a close shave when a Delhi-bound Indigo flight Airbus 320 was hit by a bird on Monday morning.
The flight had just taken off a few metres from the ground when a bird came its way at 10.10am. Following the incident, he flight made an emergency landing at Ranchi airport and all passengers were safe, said airport authorities.
The aircraft with 100-odd fliers remained grounded till late in the evening and aviation engineers were on the job to repair it. The flight was going to Delhi from Ranchi.
Airport director Raju Raghwendra Kumar said the flight had just taken off when a bird hit it. "The pilot decided to abort the flight," said Kumar.
