Two try to sneak in gold bars from Singapore, caught at airport

Mumbai: The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of the airport customs department recently apprehended two Indians for allegedly smuggling gold bars by concealing it inside specifically stitched pockets in their jeans.
The AIU team, headed by deputy commissioner Rishi Yadav, held the duo after they arrived at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) from Singapore on a Singapore Airways flight. The information about the smuggling was based on specific intelligence inputs received by AIU.
The arrested have been identified as Syed Mohammed Thaamil and Khambar Abbas. AIU officials revealed that when the accused were questioned about the gold bars they were carrying, they tried to feign ignorance.
