Work on Kannur airport to be awarded by month-end

Thiruvananthapuram: The process of awarding the first engineering, procurement and construction (EPC I) contract for the Kannur airport has entered the last phase, and the work on building the fourth international airport of the State will be awarded to the winning bidder by October-end.
The financial bids of the technically qualified companies will be opened after the Board meeting of Kannur International Airport Ltd. (KIAL) scheduled here for October 17.
The Board will consider the report of an empowered committee, headed by Chief Secretary E.K. Bharat Bhushan, looking into the technical bids, official sources told The Hindu.
The five-member committee held its first meeting on October 9 and the study report will be placed before the Board meeting.
The Additional Chief Secretaries of Aviation and Finance, the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and the Managing Director of KIAL are the members of the empowered committee.
