After 9 years Nagpur airport runway to be recarpeted

Nagpur: The runway recarpeting work of Nagpur's Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport is scheduled to take place between December 15, 2013 and May 15, 2014. The last recarpeting was done in 2004 and in between the traffic has increased manifold. Two IndiGo flights will be affected due to the work.
A request for notice to airmen (NOTAM) regarding the work has been sent by MIHAN India Limited (MIL), the airport operator to the air traffic control (ATC) which is under Airports Authority of India (AAI). "It is as good as issued, the airlines have also been informed and they will take the necessary action," said a senior MIL official. However, ATC officials said they had not received the request.
The recarpeting work will be done between 9.30am and 4.30pm. This will affect two flights, both IndiGo. The affected flights are 6E 196 Nagpur-Delhi via Mumbai which departs from Nagpur at 1.20pm and 6E 135 Nagpur-Pune which departs from Nagpur at 11.15am.
