Ahmedabad airport to have new ATC tower

Ahmedabad: Come 2014 and the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at Ahmedabad will have a new Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower which will give the authorities better visibility of the terminals, the runways and flights taking off or coming in to land. Sources at the airport said that the new ATC would be first major addition to the airport infrastructure which would make flights safer and have more secure skies.
AAI has decided to expand its technical and administration departments at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. For this, the authority plans to build an administrative block (besides the new ATC) to upgrade technical supervision and improve administration. Construction work for the administrative block has already begun and the preliminary design for the new tower has been approved.
A new ATC tower and an administrative block had become necessary because of the huge rise in air traffic in the last one year.
