Air India serves chicken to veg passengers on London flight

Mumbai: Chicken morsels found in vegetarian meals served on Air India's London-Birmingham sectors have not only set off complaints from passengers, but have the potential of delaying flights, as the food packets are now being checked by the crew before they are loaded, to ensure that those labelled as vegetarian are indeed vegetarian.
After two separate incidents of chicken turning up in vegetarian meal trays at London and Birmingham, Plane Catering, the Heathrow-based agency appointed by Air India to supply it meals at both airports, is now re-inspecting the food it provides for flights operated by the national Indian carrier.
Crew complaint reports have been filed on several occasions-on November 7 (AI-119) and November 9 (AI-116), an airline official said. On flight AI-116 of November 9, six out of thirteen vegetarian meals contained chicken in place of paneer.
