Airport to get x-ray machine for scanning luggage

Nagpur: In an addition to the security measures at the airport, Nagpur's Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport will soon have an x-ray machine for scanning luggage of passengers before they enter the terminal building.
Currently, the x-ray machine is inside the terminal building and operated by the airline officials. Now, the newly acquired machine will be placed just outside the entrance and manned by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), said a senior Mihan India Limited (MIL) official. It will be used for random checking of passenger luggage.
This step comes after suggestions from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS). "These are new directives aimed at strengthening the safety of the airport. Very few airports have it, and we will be acquiring it soon," said the official.
