Centre gives nod to upgrade Belgaum airport

Belgaum: The Centre has cleared upgrading of the Belgaum airport and sanctioned Rs 293 crore for the long pending project that is expected to help both industrialists and businessmen of the area who have been demanding more flights to Bengaluru and other cities.
 The airport authorities have received permission to raise its fence wall and call for tenders for extending the runway, taxi-way and developing other facilities.
 A  new passenger terminal has been designed  and tenders have been called for appointment of consultants , according to sources. Most of the preliminary work for the upgradation has  been completed.
