New Delhi: The Government plans to give Chennai, Kolkata and four other airports to the private sector for 30 years but unlike the practice at present, the successful operator will not be automatically allowed to manage the asset for the next 30 years. This is one of the proposals of the Ministry of Civil Aviation in the draft concession agreement for the six airports, which was finalised late on Friday evening. The draft agreement would be sent to the project development committee, comprising representatives of other Ministries and the Plan panel, for approval. Shooting down the Planning Commission’s move to include only revenues raised from aeronautical services at the six airports, the Ministry insisted that funds from all the activities at these airports should be considered to decide how much revenue should be shared with the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
