Elections deter politicizing of airport deal

Navi Mumbai: The gram panchayat election to be held on December 22 has acted as a deterrent to the airport issue from being politicized due to the enforcement of election code of conduct.
The issue has assumed importance due to the continuing impasse over the compensation deal for the airport project. The deal was sealed by two MLAs, villagers and the state government but a section of villagers are still opposed to it.
Two parallel meetings are scheduled on Sunday where the residents of 18 villagers will discuss the impasse.
Peasants and Workers Party (PWP) MLA, Vivek Patil said, "There is a meeting and we will try to resolve it.''
