Hijack case: Government tells HC that Air India is not cooperative

Kochi: The state government on Monday submitted before the Kerala High Court that though several requests were made, the Air India has not handed over to the police the cockpit voice records kept in the flight involved in  the alleged hijack episode. The government said that the investigation into the case could not be completed because of that.
Director General of Prosecution T Asaf Ali made the submission in response to a suo motu proceedings initiated on a petition received from  P Thajuddhin, Kollam, in the High Court registry, regarding the hardships faced by the travellers of Air India Express to Gulf Countries. On the basis of the complaint, the  Chief Justice, High Court of Kerala, directed to place the matter on the judicial side as a suo motu Public Interest Litigation.
There was high drama at the Thiruvananthapuram airport on October 19, 2012 as the pilot of the Air India Express flight 4422, from Abu Dhabi to Kochi, sent a hijack alert. The flight landed at Trivandrum airport due to bad weather condition. After the landing, the passengers got panicked and allegedly obstructed the commander of the flight to exit from the cockpit.
