'India needs to open up aviation more'

Doha: Qatar Airways is looking at a bigger pie of the Indian aviation market but wants India to open up the sector more. "I am very greedy for India. I would love to have more flights to India... but the Indian aviation market needs to open up more," Akbar Al Baker, the CEO of Qatar Airways, told TOI.
The national airline of Qatar already operates to 13 destinations in India. "We are already committed to India. In my country, India has the single biggest country population. So, it is a very important market for us," Al Baker said.
But he also warned that China is going to be the biggest aviation market and is going to overtake India.
China is a very strategic region for the airline and it is planning additional flights to the country, he said after joining 'oneworld', an alliance of 13 global airlines.
