KFA ex-executive heads company seeking dues from airline

Dubai: The phrase "other side of the fence" was possibly coined for situations like this. An Indo-American aviation whiz kid, who helped Vijay Mallya launch Kingfisher Airlines (KFA) nine years ago, quit earlier this year. He is now heading an aircraft leasing company that is running after the grounded and near-bankrupt airline for getting its dues.
Hitesh Patel, who came from the US in 2004 after working in various American airlines to help Mallya set up KFA and rose to be executive vice-president in the airline, had quit this summer. The airline was grounded last October and its licence has not been renewed. Patel was among the key people trying to restart the airline but he left after nothing materialized.
