KITCO distances from proposals to alter temple structure for Aranmula airport

Kochi: Officials of the state-owned consultancy firm, KITCO, on Saturday sought to distance itself from the Aranmula airport project report which reportedly included the controversial suggestion to lower the 'temple pole' of the famous Aranmula Parthasarathi Temple.
Interestingly, the officials of the KGS Aranmula International Airport, the promoters of the proposed airport project, have also now conceded that the KITCO report doesn't contain any such suggestions.
The report, however, carries the emblem of KITCO and when asked by TOI here to clarify on this, PT Nandakumar, the executive director of the KGS group, said, "Somebody in the office could have messed it up."
KITCO MD Cyriac Davies said, "We had prepared only a pre-feasibility report in 2009. The report had covered mainly the financial feasibility aspects of the project. We had not mentioned anything about the temple or any other high-rise structures in the area. Detailed technical aspects of the project like the master plan and obstacle survey were not included in the study."
Cyriac said he had approached KGS group suggesting it to clarify that KITCO had not made any recommendation to alter the temple structures as mentioned in the media reports.
